County Profile

Citrus County is located in west central Florida on the gulf coast. It is bordered by Levy County to the north, Marion County to the northeast, Sumter County to the East, Hernando County to the south and the Gulf of Mexico to the West.

The population of Citrus County was recorded at 140,031 in year 2011.

Citrus County covers a total of 773 Sq. miles, including 584 Sq. miles of land and 189 Sq. miles of water.

Inverness Florida is the county seat and the largest community in Citrus County is Homosassa Springs.
